It’s an honor to speak with you today.

Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

I am a 36 year old mother of two, born and raised in Baltimore, MD. I started my journey in the beauty and wellness space as a freelance artist doing hair on set and in the salon. As I developed as an artist, so did my love for those who sat in my chair. I knew that there was a deficit of consideration and experience that was deserved. Make Me Ova Salon was born. At this time I was already well rooted in my spiritual and personal development routines. The adaptation of my 15+ years living a mindful lifestyle, the development of my beauty brand SA Beauty Online/Hair replacement, restoration initiative #iamnotmyhairloss, and the growth of Make Me Ova Salon led seamlessly to the creation of SA Mindful Beauty Restorations. It is here that I became Sherrell Alicia, #yourmindfulnessmentor, and began intentionally providing compassionate support for those seeking guidance on the pathway to their high selves.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

I had to overcome what many would see as insurmountable. As a child of the Maryland Fostercare system I was no stranger to the challenges and vulnerabilities many often face on a day-to-day basis. Add to that my over 14+ years of experience as a beauty professional, being sought out as a guide to my clients through numerous lifestyle challenges, and it’s easy to understand my passion for mindfully restoring the idea of beauty from the inside

out and guiding mentees as they power through their self-discovery journey.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I developed a program to support individuals who desire positive change in their lives. Unlike other coaches I am looking for those who are ready to take the internal inventory needed to accomplish the growth and development that is required to achieve positive breakthroughs. No matter who they are, what they believe or how successful they feel they are or are not. Created for adults who are embarking upon their own journey of self-discovery, plus those well along the way who are seeking support. Through group and individual mentoring, mindfulness events, and wellness retreats I thoughtfully create a safe space where they can become more mindful together.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Honestly, It would be this quote by Arthur Ashe, “Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can”. It’s one of my favorites because oftentimes we feel as if we have to have a particular thing in order to get started. All we really need is to make the decision to start. Be so firm in that decision that the only option is success. When this is the case, there is nothing or no one that can stand in your way. When there is no door, you’ll find a window. When you’re not sure you’ll ask questions. When you feel you’ve loss, you’ll know that that was simply the experience required in order to meet your success.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success, for me, is not attached to a dollar amount or material possession. My idea of success is to be free. Free to choose how you use your time and resources. I feel that having that freedom and being in the position to share resources with others in a way that elevates their life, is the ultimate success.

What’s next for you?

Continue to bring awareness to the lifestyle of mindfulness and restore the idea of beauty globally. I’m currently working on, “Mindful Minutes, Issue 2”! Continue to host group and individual mentoring, mindfulness events, and really unique wellness retreats.
