Today we’d like to introduce you to Jezy.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Hey! my full name is Jezmar McBean (stage name is Jezy). I’m a 31 year old, seasoned clean rapper from Barrie, Ontario Canada. I’ve been rapping since I was 17. I’ve opened up for big names such as T-Pain, MGK(x2), Juicy J, and Redman and Method man amongst others. My most recent project “Second Chance” was my first EP that had ZERO swearing. This was done because all too often I hear how rap music has too much swearing and a bad message. Now I specifically target people like that and Parents with kids because they love my music and it’s all radio Friendly no matter what song you go to! My music is unique and absolutely essential especially in todays world with all the Uncertainty going on. Positive songs would be welcomed by the masses.
Not only am I a rapper but I’m also a Business owner of my merch company “Jezy Music”. I sell anything from T-shirts to sweaters to mask and stickers etc. My merch has been booming for the past year and a half and you can check my website or my Instagram so you can see for yourself. I’ve gotten as far as I have by staying driven and never getting complacent no matter what I achieve. There’s always something I can improve on or a way I can be better.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
I’ve over came many challenges along the way. Personally, I had to go through the process of getting Married then separating shortly after. Becoming a father 3 years ago while still juggling my 9-5 while following my dreams at the same time. When I first started rapping I was made fun of a lot. No one liked y music and I was Constantly told to go back to playing Basketball because holding a Mic wasn’t for me.
Instead of getting upset and listening to everyone who said I couldn’t do it. I listened to the exact words of criticism , and I worked my butt off to slowly but surly turn all those people who doubted me into legitimate fans of my music.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
First off how many “Clean rappers” do you know that’s doing what I’m doing? To have a modern day rapper that appeals to both young and Older audiences with all clean lyrics….It almost feels like we’re talking about a Unicorn. I also have my own distinct sound so people who are familiar with me can hear me say a few words and they’ll know right away “That’s Jezy”.
There just isn’t a rapper right now that’s Making consistent positive clean music other than me. Those are real facts. When it comes to my brand “Jezy Music”. the Jezy merch logo is super sleek, sharp, simple and modern.
I really do believe my brand will be bigger then my music ultimately when it’s all said and done but as my name continues to grow so will my merch sales.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
My best advice for anyone trying to find success is to simply find what you’re good at. Once that has been established then that’s when the work really starts. Master your craft. Repetition and constantly trying to be a sponge in your set skill and learn as much as you can. Stick to it and you’ll get the outcome you’re looking for. without a doubt.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success to me is being able to leave my full time job and being able to support my lifestyle and career off of my music and my merch.
What’s next for you?
Currently I’m in the process of making my first album “Unfamiliar Territory”. It’s a 13 track album and I’ve already released one single from it called “Early Returns” and I’m releasing another single March 25th 2021 called “Weirdos”. I’m planning on this album to be ready for this summer of 2021.
