Today we’d like to introduce you to Rusty Diamond, CH.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

Thank you for this interview. Growing up as a kid, all I wanted to be was a professional wrestler. Getting told by peers, adults, and guidance counselors I was too small, and I should give up, I did. I tried to do anything, but that itch was never scratched, so I sat in limbo. At 26, I decided to become a professional wrestler. I had been going to local shows the year or so prior, and my good friend and his brother got me to start training with them. The wrestlers that trained me were more than happy to test me when I started. I had been quite the loud mouth at the shows as a fan, so I have a feeling they were more than happy to make sure I was tough enough to be a pro wrestler. I stuck it out though. It did not pay the bills though. I have always been better at working by myself as opposed to working a regular job. I was never a great student (I barely squeaked by middle school, high school, and for some reason college), or model employee (I have only had one job I did not dread to showing up to each day). However, getting to do things my way, I ended up loving what I do. That is how I became a hypnotist, stand-up comedian, international professional wrestler, public speaker, announcer, commentator, musician, reseller, ordained minister, actor, voice over talent, podcast host, television and live show producer.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Like I said before, having countless people tell me I can’t do what I want to do was soul crushing. I wish I had knocked those thoughts out of my head earlier, but I would have had a different story then. I wanted to learn how to do every job associated with pro wrestling, and there are only a small amount I haven’t done. I like that about myself. Knowing how everything works intertwined to make a great show is invaluable. I’d always do whatever job was needed for the show. I spent 3 or 4 years going to the shows, and working whichever job they needed. Then one of my trainers wanted me to be a manager. I loved it, and at one show, the booker wanted me to wrestle. I had never wrestled a match, but they needed someone. So by accident, I started wrestling. I started traveling all over, at a time, I feel I spent more time out of the USA than in it. So many hours in cars, so little sleep, but I was living my dream. I ended up injuring my knee at my 9-5 job. Didn’t get hurt wrestling, hurt myself stepping in a hole carrying 80-100 pounds of flooring. I had to step back from in ring work. My knee didn’t heal right, and I have had 3 surgeries on it, and it’s about 75%. I became depressed, and my counselor gave me a book, inside it opened my mind to hypnosis.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I became top of my class in hypnosis. I fell in love with it. I started practicing, and it took off. I had an office in Portland, Oregon. I moved to Minnesota then in 2019. I assumed I would be snowed in 6 months out of the year, so I started video and phone calls instead of in person calls. Then in 2020…well, you know the rest. Everyone starts doing video calls, so clients became much more open to the idea, and my client list grew even more. Most when thinking of hypnosis, think clucking like a chicken, losing weight, or stop smoking. Though, those are options, I rarely do those. I have much more enjoyed working with clients that have had PTSD, and watching that go away, finding out what may have happened during extra-terrestrial encounters, or dreams that may have been suppressed. I also enjoy giving relaxation, sleeping, and greatly reducing anxiety and depression. The one that blows my mind and has been one I can’t believe I get paid for is erotic hypnosis. Yes, you read that right. I will leave it at that. It’s amazing. When I’m not hypnotizing people, I fell into reselling. It started as selling a few things in September 2019, to a place over run with inventory going in and out the doors. I love finding items that someone else may love. I have an eclectic mixture of items that I sell. They are sold on eBay or Poshmark.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

If you want success in your life, listen to the ones who have done it, and done it well. Don’t listen to people that have no clue what they are talking about. It’s your future. Do what you want to do. Don’t be miserable. You don’t have to be. Do what you want to do. At least do it on the side as your side hustle. Have your iron in a number of fires. Work hard, some people will get what they are aspiring for without working hard, but I bet you they are. You’re just not seeing it. Don’t worry what others are doing and what society tells you that you should be doing. If that were the case, I would have been one of these people with this college degree (mine was in environmental sociology and Russian), and employers aren’t exactly looking for an employee with those kinds of credentials. I am not a role model. If you look stuff up about me, or what I may say in the future, I may get cancelled. But I really need to speak my mind. Sometimes my mouth has gotten me in trouble. It sure won’t be the last time that will happen either. I am not saying to be a jerk to everyone, in fact don’t do that. But say what you need to say, if someone doesn’t like it, there is an audience and peer group that will. Not everyone has to like you. Live that last sentence.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success is a relative term. Me wrestling one match was a success. Me at 24 getting on tv with a sign that said “blaze the nuggets” at a Blazers vs. Nuggets game. I thought both of those would be the pinnacle of my life. I thought, at least I didn’t peak in high school. It would have been in the next decade though. Peaking before 28 didn’t quite happen. I may have peaked at some point since then, but I sure hope I have not. As far as I see it, this story is just ramping up. Work hard. Hustle on the side until you can do what you would like to do, and then work harder. I would love to say that anyone can do this, but I’m not sure how true that is. Success to me more than anything is being happy at the end of each day. Money is money, happiness is priceless. I may not always be happy, but I am a lot more happy than I would have been had I stayed complacent. Set a goal. It sounds dumb, but do it. Write down what you want to have happen. Hold on to whatever that is written on. Say it ten times before you go to bed each night and see how fast your life starts to head in that direction. Pick your direction, find what will make you happy. I have taken so many “what job should I have?” tests. None said be you.

What’s next for you?

Next for me is growing each of the businesses I run. My hypnosis teacher wants to teach everyone hypnosis, and I am trying my best to further that for him. I really want to be doing all of my professions, and the best part is that I can. I set my own days and hours when I want to work my jobs, and when I am working for someone else, I can adjust my hours to accommodate those. I am in charge. It is like being my own boss without the fun of being in a reverse funnel system or a multi level marketing or a pyramid scheme. I am working much harder for myself than I did for school or jobs. I had side hustles, even as a teenager. I could easily find a way to get out of work. I mean, I’d still be doing work, but I didn’t have to do school work. I felt pretty cool being able to do that. I would like to add more things to my list of jobs I do. I don’t know what that may be though, and hopefully I can keep intermingling them into one giant Rusty project. I am inspired by the paperclip into a house story. I am wanting to do something similar with my businesses. I’m going to keep working hard and building and expanding at a pace which works for me. I already ran for politics. If you win, you are surrounded daily by jerks.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more.

linker.ee/rustydiamond0 should have every way you can think of to contact me. My only website that I pay for is: hypnosisisgreat.com. You can find this in the link at the beginning as well. You can call me at: 503-974-6420. Yes, that is my number, call me, and we can talk. If you are not as much the talking type, feel free to email me at: rustydiamondhypnosis@gmail.com. I have content out there in the internet world that may not be 100% to your liking, and that is ok. If you want to complain about it, please call me or email me, I would love to discuss that. I do comedy as well, so what I say may not be kid friendly. I am a human. I am not only a hypnotist. I love having my own points of view. I don’t want to shield the world of my words do be “more professional”. I am a professional guy, I’m honest, and I do say swear words sometimes. Don’t we all though? as Brother Marquis from 2 Live Crew says, “The first amendment gave us freedom of speech. So what you sayin’? It didn’t include me”. You may like me, you may not. If you don’t, I have friends in every one of those groups that I would gladly refer you to. I just want to be real and upfront with everyone on here, and will not put out this saintly persona which will inevitably be exposed as me being me.
