Today we’d like to introduce you to C.h.a.m.p.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

My artist name,” C.h.a.m.p,” is an acronym that stands for, ” Change happens at my pace.” This is a creed that I’ve been forced to stand upon through my roller-coaster like life. I was born July 24, 2000 in Mesquite, Texas and graduated from Mesquite High School. Growing up I moved 15 times before the age of 18. From apartment, to house, to town home, you name it. As a result, I had to adapt to my many surroundings, and learn how to deal with many types of people. My versatile upbringing really shows up in my music, which is best described as real, raw and uncut, and full of emotion.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

The biggest obstacle I’ve ever had to overcome was being shot and hospitalized. August 31, 2019 I woke up in the hospital with a bullet in my head. Although I choose not to elaborate on the events that transpired that night, I can say that I did die for 7 minutes and came back to life. I was 19 years old when that happened to me, but the obstacles I faced growing up helped prepare me for the pain I’d face on that night and the 5 months of rehab that would follow. Growing up in the deep south, I’ve had to face racism and prejudice from a young age. Arrested at 10 years old for a crime I did not commit, was the first big awakening for me. At a young age, I realized that I had to have a sharp mind, because I was already viewed as a threat as a child. Meanwhile, I also knew I wanted succeed so heavily that I would fly past all of my competition.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

My artist name is C.h.a.m.p and the genre of my music is rap. My style is lyrical, relatable and just feels food. Someone would be wise to work with me, because of my results. After rapping for only 3 weeks, I’ve already gained 10,000 streams over all platforms, have one EP out (Paper Route), and I have another EP called “Yolo” coming on July 24th. My first EP is an introduction to my skill. My second EP, Yolo, will be the best EP in the world! Here I will showcase full diversity in my songs and it will be straight fire!

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Not to be egotistical, but everyone should adapt my C.h.a.m.p creed, that change happens at my pace. If you want to succeed, you have to fully understand that your life is truly all you make it. Each person has the power and ability to mold their life the way they please, through hard work and persistence.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

To me, success is having a goal and accomplishing it. No matter how big or small. One of my daily goals is to write a song every day. That’s a small goal compared to my big goal of one day winning a Grammy. As long as you are hitting goals every day, you too are a C.h.a.m.p.

What’s next for you?

As said before, my EP Yolo is being released on July 24, 2021. The second track, “Baby Debo,” will also have a video released the same day. This will be the best EP in the world, and after that more singles will be on the way featuring big artist collaborations.
