Today we’d like to introduce you to Norberto Diaz Granados L.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
Oh, yes. I am a Colombian singer songwriter. I am a 40 years old guy who loves music, freedom and traveling all over the world. I studied Mechanical Engineering and Theology in my country. I just finished a diploma in App Development and Web design last month. I began writing poems and novels when I was 18 and won some contests of English writing in 1997. There I knew I was to be a writer. So I got a MBA in Creative Writing at Valencia, and actually I am studying to become an expert in Writings Nobels with Planeta in Spain. I published my first book in 2018 named: «I Prophet» in Spanish. And It was a success with over 2 M downloads so far. I also write songs and sing them since 1999. I already produced 13 songs, all in Spanish and working currently for an English song this year. I started a company online called Nobel Writers and there are 1.5K writers joined the team up so far. I am always helping new talented ones to reach their goals in writing and Music industry. Also travel all over the world giving TED Talks and conferences In Australia, All South America and the Caribbean. 17 countries I have been myself promoting my work. It hasn´t been easy to reach this point. It is a hard way up to conquer but with discipline and self-control and a bit of hope, I could make it. Yes.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
First, when you are a 19-year-old boy you have no idea of anything. I would say this was the first challenge I faced. To find a way to understand my purpose in life. I was the elder son in my house and had two little brother and sister to take care of while mom worked in a factory two hours away from our place. We had a lot of poverty lifestyle, and lack of everything at that time. So, I needed to find that answer first, and get a way to know the reason of my life. I was run over by a truck. in 1995. I was crippled due to the accident. I got a wheel’s chair for life and was hard to overcome this challenge. Somehow, I recover quickly and started to walk again by myself some months later with no surgery. So After that, I really wanted to know my purpose in this planet. Another challenge was the lack of money and opportunities in my country to get prepared and study. So, I went to public schools and public Universities to study. Every day for 7 years was a challenge running everywhere to get copies, books, transportation, food, and everything to keep my studies running too. I had to work in a part time job to overcome this issue. Then, another challenge was the roughness of the market. You need to be brave, you really do, to achieve what you want.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
Well, I do many things as you see I got some good preparation in many areas. But I am here today to talk about my writer’s company and music productions. I run a company for nobel writers. I lead them and coach them to become a better version of themselves. Not only as writers, but also in life. I know that everything in life is connected. So, to be better in one thing, you need to work hard in all areas in life to improve it faster and better. Life is too short to spend it wasting time and money. We need to know the way and get the goal as fast as we can, but with confidence and honor. So, I coach them, and flow as an adviser for them in many situations. Also, I play the role of their teacher and master in writing to make them improve their writing skills so they can be the best writers ever. I make this every week in a one-to-one work. So, we trust each other and play the game together to win together and grow together. I do this work too with musicians. I Teach them how to write better lyrics for their songs and encourage them for playing in local and national contests for songwriters so they realize how big they are now. So, I know I am the best option over the competition because you won’t be a number, you will always be my partner and a friend.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
I think the best piece of advice for the readers would be a short list. It is not possible to say it in one word. So here it is: 1. Trust yourself. You really need this to believe in you and in what you want to do. I think all the rest depends on this first step. Trustness, you need to trust first in you, and then in the purpose you consider will be your goal for living. 2. Never quit. I mean, If you are already aware of the purpose in your life, just go for it. Never give up. If there are challenges, overcome them all. If you fall, stand up again. Never ever quit your purpose. 3. Try it hard. It is not going to be easy. So you need to play hard, to try hard and conquer every day, every single time. 4. Make mistakes. ¡Oh yes! Mistakes are the best teachers in life. You will learn more from them than from victories and achievements. 5. Be open minded. You need to be able to evolve. If you do not do so, you will die. Dinosaurs extinguished because they were not able to evolve. In some point in history, they just disappeared. 6. If you need to change, do it. Sometimes the hardest decisions are the easiest to make. So, if you need to change a way after all, just do it. And re start again. It is never late while you are alive.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Now, what is success? To have a lot of money? A lifestyle that others envy? I do not think so. Success has a definition, from my point of view, highly personal. It is different for everyone. For me, achieving success means achieving what is truly important, having my priorities covered and living in accordance with my values. That is why it is so important to have values, and what I said at the beginning… to know the purpose of life. To Know what is important to us and what we want to achieve in life. Most people, sadly, don’t know. That is the main reason why many people do not save, they acquire debts, as if accumulating material things gave meaning to their lives. Few know how to value what they have and what they have been able to achieve, those who take care of their things, those who care about their future and the real well-being of themselves and their families. They are the ones who know that being successful does not depend on the assets they have or the money they earn, but on how they use them to meet their needs. When I reflect on this, I like to remember a Chinese proverb that says: Happiness does not consist in doing what we like, but in liking what we do. In other words, happiness is an attitude towards life, it is the way we face it. Success is too. I’m sure of it.
What’s next for you?
Next this year? Well, a lot of things coming up. Within two weeks I will start working in three universities promoting my coaching for writers and giving some TED Talks in Rotary centers in my city. I will also release two new singles from my next LP album. I am producing now with my partner and producer Alvaro Santos, a full Rock Album named: «He carried away death» It is a great album related to my close experience with death and how I overcame all difficulties trusting there was something better for me in Life. It a 12-song album and it will be finished this very year. Working this at Eksora Productions Studio. I will be having some trips in USA in Jun, will be visiting New York City, New Jersey, Miami, Dallas, Washington DC and then will depart for Mexico DF for a TED conference. All this trip in USA will be for promoting my music and some conferences too. You know, despite the fact my music is in Spanish so far, I have a great number of listeners in Chicago, Minnesota, Miami, and New York. So, I will take this opportunity to engage more closely with them. I hope so. Also will be publishing four new books this year. The first two In February and march.
